The idea for the Employee Database was first proposed by Pensioner the late Fred Chancey, who was concerned that the names and stories of the workers would disappear.
The database is a unique record that dates back to the late 1800's. It lets the public search for information on relatives who worked on the railway or coastal boat service.

The Employee Database was created in order to preserve a record of all employees of the railway and coastal boat services since their creation; from the Reid Newfoundland Railway, to CN and the Dockyard.
