The Railway Coastal Museum is dedicated to interpreting the history of the Newfoundland railway system from its inception in the late 1880's to its closure in 1988 as well as the history of the provincial Coastal Boat Service. The Johnson Family Foundation and the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA) contributed to produce the Museum and restore the original Riverhead station building. Most people do not realize however that we are the non-profit Railway Coastal Museum Foundation Inc. relying on ticket and gift shop sales and rental revenues from our reception and birthday party offerings to keep our operation running.
